Tower of the Pilgrimage Church

With a height of about 60 metres, the tower of the Pilgrimage Church, still late Gothic at its core and with its baroque onion dome, is visible from afar.

The frescoes of the sundial: Zodiac signs, angels and death are reminders of the viewer's transience.

The entrance to the tower is in the Pilgrimage Church below the organ gallery.
Arriving on the 1st floor, we pause to take in the miniature nativity set that is on display year-round.

Now we climb the tower – just put € 1.00 in the turnstile and away we go. About 200 steps lead past the bells to the tower’s onion dome.

Scaling the tower is rewarded – especially in fair weather – by the terrific view (coin-operated telescope) from the tower windows over the Ammersee and the moraine landscape of the alpine upland to the chain of the Alps.

INFORMATION: The tower is open depending on weather conditions. Please ask at the monastery gate.
