Accessibility
We strive to make the trip and your stay with us as pleasant as possible for our guests with limited mobility who want to visit Andechs. However, please note that large sections of the pavements are cobblestone.
Arrival in a private vehicle with an attendant
You are welcome to bring your vehicle directly to the entrance of the Pilgrimage Church. To keep the escape routes clear, your attendant then has to park the vehicle on the large parking lot, which is free of charge, at the foot of the Holy Mountain (no. 17 on the map). After visiting the Pilgrimage Church, you can get picked up again.
We ask that you contact the monastery’s gatekeeper (08152-376-0) THE DAY BEFORE. Please note the opening hours. We will gladly provide ramps if necessary so you can navigate the church steps.
Arrival by public transport
From Munich, take the S6 to Tutzing or the S8 to Herrsching. Then take the MVV-Bus directly to the Holy Mountain.
Visiting the Bräustüberl
If you are travelling in your own car, you can park free of charge on two marked parking lots below the Fürstentrakt (no. 11 on the map). The large Bierterrasse and the Ostterrasse are fully accessible from here. Doors, some of them automatic, in the Bräustüberl and Wappensaal provide extensive access. There is sufficient space between the seating to easily get into almost all areas of the Bräustüberl.
„Toilet for all“
The „Toilet for all“ campaign was initiated by the “Leben pur” foundation and is financed by the Sparkassenverband Bayern. “Toilet for all” has made the Bräustüberl even more accessible. The facility located directly next to the Wappensaal includes a mobile person lift and height-adjustable nursing bed. The “Toilet for all” has a European locking system for people with disabilities. It can be opened with your own key or by our service staff, available by calling 08152-376-261 (you may have to let it ring for a while).
Additional toilets for people with disabilities:
- Near the monastery gate (no. 15 on the map)
- By the visitor parking lot at the foot of the Holy Mountain (no. 24 on the map)
