The Benedictine Abbey’s Social and Cultural Role
The Abbey contributes significant towards the welfare of Munich`s homeless. In November 2001, the Archbishop Friedrich Kardinal Wetter consecrated both the Haneberghaus and the youth center. The latter has become the base fot the Altstadt-Mitte  and Neuhausen catholic youth center, the PIB (an educational-cum-psychological information and guidance center for youths), and for the Munich Choir`s boys and girls. The sankt-bonifaz abbey uses  the Haneberghaus to feed and clothe the homeless, and provide them with medical care and emergency overnight stays.

St. Bonifaz Abbey’s Activities for the Homeless take place under the supervision of Frater Prior Emmanuel, OSB.
