From the very earliest beginnings, the physical comfort of ist guests was a theme very close to the heart of the Benedictine monks. According to the rules of St. Benedict himself, it is ordained that, “All strangers who come should be received as if they were Christ himself”. And so pilgrims were treated. In Andechs this Benedictine tradition of hospitality can be enjoyed together with the relaxed friendly atmosphere that has always been typical of Bavaria.
